Suzuki Alto
A small car has advantages including ease of parking, greater ability to negotiate congested urban roads and more economical fuel consumption. Drivers looking to buy this type of vehicle for a reasonable price would do well to consider the Suzuki Alto.
Priced from £6,795, the Suzuki Alto has a 1.0 litre petrol engine. It does 0 to 60 mph in 14 seconds with a maximum speed of 96 mph. A combined fuel consumption of 64.2 mpg is extremely easy on the pocket. The automatic version does slightly less well with a combined fuel consumption of 53 mpg, but it won’t break the bank either.
Space is often an issue with small cars and the Suzuki Alto prioritises this for the front seat passengers. The manufacturer describes the visual appeal of the Suzuki Alto as “exuding urban energy” and this may be true from the exterior, but it has to be said that the interior facilities and controls are basic, with few extras included. Given the budget nature of this car it is not surprising and nobody would expect a bundle of extras for this price. Safety features are good, whilst performance is average.
The entry level SZ2 model comes without air conditioning and is £500 cheaper than the air conditioned SZ3. To sum up, the Suzuki Alto is a basic small car with few bells and whistles. It will get you from A to B and save you money on both purchase price and fuel costs, but the story ends there.
